Restoration and Renovation of the Inn
The second and third floor of the Inn remain unusable due to the lack of heat,
plumbing
and electricity. The first floor is currently leased and used by the Wyoming
Rib and
Chop House. Based on a current Market Analysis and Feasibility Study, the
Sheridan
Heritage Center Board of Directors is moving ahead with plans to rehabilitate
the
Sheridan Inn into a Historic County Inn, comprised of 22 - 26 rooms for
overnight stay.
Phase I of the Sheridan rehabilitation project was completed in 1995 with over
one million dollars invested in the exterior of the structure with a new roof,
sidewalk, exterior doors, paint, window repairs and the installation of a fire
alarm system.
Phase II of the rehabilitation project consists of the first
floor. Project Number one of Phase II is the refurbishment of the Lobby.
Future Projects on the first floor consist of the refurbishment of the Ladies
Parlor, the Main dinning room, the Wyoming room and the reconfiguration of the
rest rooms to accommodate handicap access.
The rehabilitation of the second and third floor will proceed with a
partnership with an investor/developer and public grants. A search for a
developer/investor is currently under way.
